So how does a believer deal with fear, anxiety, and hardship in times like this? 

Our faith teaches us that things will pass and that those tests are not punishments but opportunities for immense blessings and rewards.

If a person leaves pious children, he will continue to receive rewards as long as his children keep on doing good deeds, regardless of whether they make the intention of sending the rewards to their parents or not.
